The Authority of the Bible – Beginnings and Endings

We watched a DVD at church by Ken Ham from Answers in Genesis on how Christians can reach our modern day culture with the Gospel. Ham made several excellent points, but I want to focus on one profound item.

The differing views of end times vs. the differing views about creation generate the most controversy concerning the Bible. There’s an all important reason for this, and we must not overlook it.

Those who study prophecy arrive at their conclusions based on what they’ve researched in Scriptures. They’re using the Bible as their authority, even though they come to different points of view.

Those who believe in a view of creation different than the one explained in Genesis come to their conclusions from sources outside the Bible, particularly modern science. The Scriptures are not their main source of authority.

Ham emphasizes the point that we either base our religion and faith on God’s authority or on Man’s authority. It makes a huge difference as to how we view the Word of God and the world we live in.

What might happen if we each recognized God’s word, the Bible, as the authority it is and gave it a greater place in our lives?
