How do you envision Christ? You’re not getting the full picture if you think of Jesus as nothing more than a milk toast do-gooder.
On Sunday evening, August 29, 2021, I had the privilege of delivering a message on various appearances of Christ in the Scriptures at our church–Northwood Baptist Church, Columbia, MO.
The more I study the Scriptures, the more I want to know the Lord. We must know the Book if we’re to know the Author.
Jesus made some astonishing appearances throughout the Bible. We would do well to know about them to know Him in ways we don’t ordinarily think of Him.
Christ appeared in preincarnate form a surprising number of times to Old Testament saints, such as Abraham, Jacob, Moses, Joshua, Gideon, Daniel, and others. . He often came as the angel of the Lord, but He looked like any other man.
His disciples saw Him in the flesh, but He didn’t have distinguishing features that set Him apart from other Jewish men.
His three closest disciples were privileged to see Him in glorified form on the Mount of Transfiguration. Later the apostle John saw Christ as we will see Him one day.
Christ will come again as the conquering king.
This is the great God we serve and love. This is the God who can surely take care of us and see us through the strange and dangerous times in which we live.
