Peace and safety. Nobody’s feeling it right now, thanks to COVID-19. But one day they will.
Interesting developments are taking place in the Middle East as Israel normalizes relations with several countries. Could this be the beginning of real peace?
As for safety, lots of people are trying hard to keep you and me safe. Have you noticed it?
Long before COVID-19 came along, one of our local TV stations claimed they would give us the news to keep us safe. But all I want is to find out what’s happening. Let me be the one to figure out how to be safe.
Then there’s advertising. Commercial after commercial–no matter what the business is–says they’ll keep you safe.
People have put their hope in wearing masks and taking a vaccine to go back to something like normal. But these are false hopes.
All of this is sickening to me because delusion and fear run rampant. We’re not through the tough times by a long stretch.
On the other hand, consider this.
There really is coming a time when people will believe they’re at peace and are safe. The Scripture says so.
But it’s not what you may be thinking.
First Thessalonians 5:3 says this.
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
Paul wrote about the Rapture or catching away of believers a few verses previous to this in chapter 4. The context of the verse quoted above is that the sudden destruction will happen to unbelievers.
The catching away of believers will cause chaos like we can’t imagine now. It will take a strong man who can do miracles to usher in peace and safety.
Enter AntiChrist.
Peace and safety–or the perception of it–will come for three and a half years during the Seven year Tribulation period.
During that stretch of peace, perhaps people will rejoice at the absence of Christians because Christians are thought to be hateful and divisive.
After all, it’s those stubborn Christians who insist on having church, and that presumably spreads the dreaded virus.
Perhaps it takes something as drastic as the present worldwide virus to make people appreciate the peace and safety they once had. And they want it back.
They’ll get it in due time. But then all hell will break loose on the earth in the second half of the Tribulation.
But before that, one way or another peace and safety will come. But at what price?
If you want real peace right now, repent and turn to Jesus. He is the true Prince of Peace
John 16:33 says this.
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
