America’s Demise

This post won’t sit well with the vast majority of my fellow Americans. But we can no longer avoid the reality of America’s demise.

It’s not my purpose here to list the numerous causes of our country’s downfall. Volumes of analysis exist for anyone who cares.

The seeds of what we’re living through now were planted long ago. It makes no difference who is in political office.

Years ago my late good friend Gerald told me America was dead, and we were watching the rotting of the corpse. Those were unpleasant words to me as a younger man, but I eventually concluded he was right.

Gerald also compared the country’s situation to that of a favorite aunt on life support in the hospital. No matter how much the family wants to keep her alive, at some point they have to deal with the end result of a terminal illness and move on.

Accept what is. Aunt Tilly is gone, and she’s not coming back.

“Amerika,” the TV series from 1987, portrayed how Americans would live if the Russians had taken over the U.S. It’s more relevant today than ever and all too prophetic, regardless of who the controlling entity is.

In one memorable scene the chief Russian emissary converses with the newly appointed president who was plucked from the governorship of Missouri.

The president was a decent man. He declared to the emissary that he wanted to do what was best for the country.

The Russian’s reply was matter of fact and profound.

“Mr. President, you lost your country a long time ago.”

All too sad, and all too true.

The United States is not mentioned in Bible prophecy. Don’t believe anyone who tries to claim otherwise.

We must ask ourselves what’s next. What do we do now? How should we live? How do we survive?

Our hope is not in a resurrected America. Our hope must be in Christ, our resurrected Lord.
