You’ve probably heard thoughts like this about thankfulness so often that it seems trite and trivial. Nonetheless, I ask your indulgence.
I am so fed up, disgusted and bored with the unbelievably intense pressure to take the jab and wear a mask everywhere. It’s inescapable. We’re never going back to pre-COVID life.
Thinking about it all made me furious yesterday morning. I had to stop and pray for the Lord’s Spirit to calm me down and direct my thoughts and actions back to Him.
This morning I wasn’t angry, just depressed and world weary.
While I was in the shower, it occurred to me to stop for a minute and be thankful. I believe this was the Holy Spirit’s nudging.
I thanked the Lord for hot running water and soap for my shower. I thanked Him for electricity for the lights and for the furnace and air conditioner that keep our house comfortable. I expressed gratitude for the food I would eat for breakfast and the clothes I would put on for the day.
There’s much more to be thankful for–things we so often take for granted. The list could go on and on.
We all need to stop and engage in a moment of thankfulness now and then, don’t we? It’s good for the soul.
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
