The Scriptures tell us to love the Lord with all of our heart, soul and mind. We are to love our neighbor as ourselves. And believers are to love one another as Christ loved us.
But there is a love God does not want us to have.
On Wednesday evening, January 1, 2020, I had the privilege of delivering a message on 1 John 2:15-17 at our church–Northwood Baptist Church, Columbia, MO.
If you’re familiar with this passage, you know the Apostle John exhorts Christ’s followers not to love the world. But what does that mean? And why does he say this?
I shared four main thoughts.
- The world demands space in our hearts and minds.
- The world is seductive.
- The world will slip away.
- The Lord is seeking to be our first love.
